 The vending and amusement landscape are changing at a quick tempo. Advancements like new interactive vending machine displays, unique machine types, payment systems, software and interfaces are popping up at the turn of each spiral, all in an effort to expand the consumer experience. As more exciting technologies develop, so does the need for integration with existing assets and equipment operating in the field.  

To meet this demand, MEI is excited to announce the fulfilment of a new position within the vending and amusement channel. This June, Joe Barney joins the Technical Support Team, as an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Software Integration Engineer. In his new role, Joe will be dedicated to providing front-line support for identified Vending & Amusement OEMs, in the America’s, that purchase MEI products for their unique applications. The primary focus of Joe’s role will be proactive in performing software and mechanical integration of new MEI products into existing OEM equipment, as well as testing existing MEI products in new OEM equipment. A secondary focus of his position will be to provide regression testing with MEI product software and OEM Machine Software.
 
As a part of his key responsibilities, Joe will work with the MEI engineers to help deliver solutions for our OEM partners by acting as the liaison between organizations to determine root causes for reported incompatibility, developing plans for integration and regression testing, providing technical documentation and training to OEM Engineering, as well as becoming a integral part of all new MEI product development.  

 



Joe comes to MEI with a variety of skills that will foster successful, timely integrations between MEI and industry OEMs.  His experiences include roles as both a Sales and Test Engineer. Notably, he has developed Service Call Centers from the ground up. Joe also has a background in Optical and Imaging systems that include troubleshooting, repair, training, developing test scripts & documentation for the help desk center. MEI’s investment in this new role is further confirmation that our commitment to support industry OEM’s, and ultimately our shared customers, will remain a critical component of our customer support strategy.
